At Edgeless, our mission is to build an open-source and cloud-native software stack for confidential computing. Someone's got to do it. We have unique skills and now is the right time. Confidential Computing adds a so far missing key-ingredient: secure, isolated, and verifiable processing of data on any computer. While this may sound a little abstract, it is a game changer. Finally, we are able to process data in the cloud or elsewhere while having assurance that the intended operation is executed and that no one can see or alter their data. This solves a range of problems and enables exciting new applications, e.g., with regard to personal data and AI.

Meet the team
As a student, Felix Schuster was one of the first employees of the cybersecurity startup Zynamics, which was acquired by Google. After a short time as consultant in Vienna, he decided to pursue a PhD in information security. During a research visit to Microsoft, he designed one of the first Confidential Computing systems for the cloud in 2013. After graduating with distinction, Felix joined Microsoft’s then newly established Confidential Computing group. At Edgeless Systems, he has the role of the CEO, but also keeps a close eye on the tech.
Thomas Tendyck worked several years on the core engine of the leading G Data anti-malware solution, which is shipped to millions of endpoints on a rolling release cycle. He is able to create high-quality commercial code on virtually all layers of the modern software stack, be it performance optimizations in raw machine code or the implementation of an intuitive REST-API on the web. He has a profound understanding of the inner workings of Confidential Computing and knows how to bend these to deliver top-of-the-line security and performance. At Edgeless Systems, he has the role of CTO.
